MCTC Choirs present An Early Winter Concert Dec 9

Minneapolis Community and Technical College will present an Early Winter Concert featuring the MCTC Concert Choir and Vocal Ensemble Friday December 9 at 7:30 pm in the Whitney Fine Arts Theater, 1424 Yale Place, on the MCTC campus in downtown Minneapolis. The concert, directed by Dr. Elizabeth Pauly and accompanied by Christopher Wolter will feature the choirs’ characteristic blend of European art music with folk and traditional music from across the globe.  Pieces include compositions and arrangements by Alice Parker and Robert Shaw, Monte Mason, Harry Belafonte, and Giovanni Croce among others.  The choirs will be joined by guest artists percussionist Thomas Reimer and flautist Donna Hryniewicki.  A reception in the Fine Arts lobby will follow immediately after the concert. Light refreshments will be served.  Children are welcome.  Admission to this concert is free, but the choirs ask that you bring a non-perishable food donation that you may deposit in the marked bins outside the theater.  Food donations will go to the Hennepin County Emergency Food Network.

Steve Jobs 1955-2011

This video of Jobs’ commencement address to Stanford University graduates in 2005 is, to me, moving and inspiring.

Minnesota Chorale to appear at Galleria’s “Fashion’s Night Out”

The Minnesota Chorale will make an appearance at the Galleria in Edina’s “Fashion’s Night Out” this coming Thursday, Sept 8. The event will feature a variety of fun things to do, including food sampling from participating restaurants, live models, trunk shows and more. Your conductor will be part of this event, which I can promise will be both intriguing and entertaining. I can’t say more right now – it is “hush hush”, but for more info about the event, check out this link: http://www.galleriaedina.com/eat/fashions-night-out-2011/.
