Minneapolis College Choir to Perform with Minnesota Chorale October 5th

The Minneapolis College Choir is excited to share that we will be performing with the Minnesota Chorale on their Bridges concert, A Million Dreams in Minneapolis.

Date: Saturday, October 5th

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Location: Bethlehem Baptist Church, Minneapolis
720 13th Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 55415

Free Will Offering

The Minnesota Chorale’s family of choirs are launching a multi-year community engagement program in Minneapolis neighborhoods.
Using singing as a catalyst for community engagement, the Chorale’s acclaimed Bridges program turns its focus to the city in which we live, and the people of the many neighborhoods that make up Minneapolis. The first installment of this multi-year initiative will feature a day of song, including afternoon performances by the Chorale’s Minneapolis Youth Chorus and Prelude Children’s Choir, and evening performances by the Chorale and the Voices of Experience senior choir, Minnesota State Baptist Convention Choir, Bethlehem Baptist Church Choirs, the Minneapolis College Choir and Cape Town South African Ensemble 29:11.

We will be singing on the evening concert, beginning at 7:30, but you may also be interested in the Youth Chorus concert on the same day at 4:00 p.m. We’re particularly excited to be singing several arrangements by the late composer and conductor Sam Davis. View the video above to see singers from 29:11 teach us a song we’ll be singing at the concert.

Choir Annual Retreat

When: Saturday September 14th from 10:15 – 3:30
Where: Two Locations – Westminster Presbyterian Church and Minneapolis College Campus

First, we will meet at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 10:15 in Westminster Hall (you will LOVE this space) where we will rehearse with the Minnesota Chorale until 12:00 noon. Westminster has free underground parking. The address is 1200 Marquette Avenue
Minneapolis MN 55403

After rehearsing with the Chorale, we will walk over to campus (or drive if you parked at Westminster). It is a 10 minute walk if you use the Greenway that runs between Loring Park and Nicollet Mall. We will meet on campus in L3100 by 12:30, and eat lunch together, and do some “getting to know you” activities.

We will end our retreat with a rehearsal.

OTHER DETAILS

  • PACK A LUNCH – PLEASE BRING LUNCH FOR YOURSELF AND SOMETHING TO DRINK. I WILL SUPPLY THE UNHEALTHY STUFF (CHIPS, COOKIES) + NAPKINS.
  • Wear comfortable clothing.

IMPORTANT: I used to be able to send a campus map, which showed where all of the rooms are. It would be great if all of you could make an extra effort to locate the rooms ahead of time – especially L3100. It is really difficult to describe how to navigate to different rooms on campus. L3100 is on the 3rd floor of the Library building. You cannot get to L3100 from within the library itself, but you can access it from the big staircase that is in the lobby of the library building. This staircase takes you to a small lounge with vending machines – to your right you will find another staircase. Take that to the third floor, turn right at the top of the stairs, walk past the information desk (which likely won’t be staffed) and turn left again. It is the room at the end of the hall and you will probably see some of us there.
