MCTC Welcomes the Riverland Community College Choir for Winter Concert

Minneapolis Community and Technical College will present an Early Winter Choir Concert featuring the MCTC Concert Choir and Vocal Ensemble, Friday December 8th at 7:30 pm in the Whitney Fine Arts Theater, 1424 Yale Place, on the MCTC campus in downtown Minneapolis.

The concert, directed by Dr. Elizabeth Pauly and accompanied by Christopher Wolter, will feature the choirs’ characteristic blend of Western art music with folk and traditional music from across the globe.  Pieces include compositions by Stephen Paulus, Abbie Betinis and Eric William Barnum.  Joining the choirs will be guest artist percussionist Paul Raukar.

The choirs are excited to welcome The Riverland Community College Choir to this concert. The Riverland Choir, from Riverland Community College in Austin, Minnesota is led by Scott Blankenbaker, and accompanied by Dori Schou.

A reception in the Fine Arts lobby will follow immediately after the concert. Light refreshments will be served. Children are welcome. Admission to this concert is free, but the choirs ask that you bring a non-perishable food item which will benefit MCTC students in need.

MCTC Music Faculty Recital September 20

The Music Department at MCTC will present a short lunch time concert on September 20th at 12:00 noon in the Helland Student Center Multi-Purpose Room (H 1002) on the MCTC campus. The event is free and open to the public. Members of the music faculty are experienced performers, in a variety of styles from jazz and blues to folk and classical. This melding of musical traditions will create an eclectic and engaging event. Hope to see you there!

Singing for Stress Relief September 13

Join MCTC music faculty members Liz Pauly and Sarah Greer along with the MCTC Choirs in a session designed to leave you humming a new tune. By the time you leave this session you will have learned several fun songs made to be sung in community, participated in group improvisations, and learned some breathing, posture and stretching exercises to help calm and relax yourself.

Part-time Position

The Minnesota Orchestra one of America’s finest and longest established orchestras, is looking for Ticket Service Representatives.

Responsibilities include ticket sales and customer service, assisting with training and mentoring of other Ticket Service Reps and assisting Ticket Services Management with tasks/projects as assigned.

Requirements include basic computer (including internet) skills. Experience with custom designed computer programs is desirable. Customer service experience including using the phone, or working in a call center is a plus.

Shifts will mostly consist of a combination of the following:

Saturday 11:45AM-5:00PM
Sunday (open 2 hours prior to performance through start time for ticketed performances)

From Benjamin Britten’s gorgeous A New Year Carol to the haunting chant of Hildegard von Bingen, this is a concert not to be missed. Joining the choirs will be guest artists percussionist Paul Raukar and flautist Julie Johnson. A reception in the Fine Arts lobby will follow immediately after the concert. Light refreshments will be served. Children are welcome. Admission to this concert is free, but the choirs ask that you bring a non-perishable food item which will benefit MCTC students in need.

MCTC Choirs to participate in Year of Mercy Concert

On Saturday November 19th the MCTC Choirs will join several other downtown choirs in the Year of Mercy Concluding Concert. Hosted by the Basilica of St Mary Cathedral Choir, the concert will feature

  • The Basilica Cathedral Choir, Benjamin Cramer, guest conductor
  • Tesfa Wondemagegnehu, Westminster Presbyterian, guest soloist and conductor
  • Mundus Contemporary Choir, directed by Walter Tambor
  • MCTC Choirs, directed by Liz Pauly
  • StreetSong-MN (community choir for those experiencing homelessness)

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome.
